Natalie Johnson Public Relations Coordinator 10/2/20 Position Assessment: During the school year, there has not been much that my position is needed to do. But after our meeting with Scott Bakovich, Dillan and I got our first big leadership assignment for our Envolve Week Two Challenge. We needed to welcome all of the new transfer students in an email. This email needed to include memories from last year at Ripon High to get the transfer students excited about the new school year. Even though this year is different, we wanted to make sure that the students knew they could still get involved. Professional development: Leadership has already had a great impact on me throughout these first couple of months of school. I have stayed more organized because of my journal and have gotten more comfortable with public speaking by talking in Zoom class. Now that the workload is starting to get heavier, meeting deadlines is now proving to be really important in this class and that is something that has and always will prepare me for my future. Another example of professional development in this class is with the preparing of our mock interviews. Making a resume and having a mock interview with a professional could really help me with my real interviews for future jobs. 6.Concerns/Change: One concern that I would like to express is the success of FallFest. Of course I want it to succeed but the likelihood of students participating in the dress-up days are unlikely. Things obviously aren’t going to be the same this year and students are going to lose hope for the events and activities held at Ripon High this year. But if we make the publicity for the spirit week enticing and exciting, maybe we could draw in a few extra people for the spirit week that is to come.
Positive Comment: One person that I really look up to and is a true hard worker is Niki. Being ASB President in a new year with so many things coming at her unexpectedly, she has really done a great job of keeping this class on track and knowing what she needs to get done. She also still keeps a really stable social life while balancing her really important leadership role. My Impact: I couldn’t say if I have changed the world in a way, but I want to in the future. Whether it be through positivity or just giving attention to issues that are important, I want my voice to be heard. I want people to be inspired by the things I post. Moving on, I really wouldn’t know if all of the transfer students read the email Dillan and I sent, but I hope that if they did, they enjoyed all of the fun things we included in it. Those are the students that I hope to have impacted so far this year.
ASB Formal Report- October & November
Natalie Johnson Public Relations Coordinator 12/2/20
Position Assessment: Throughout October and November, there have only been a couple of things that my position has been needed in. With Dillan by my side, we tackled making sure that everyone had their FallFest posts up and checked off the master list of who did it and who did not. I think we did this twice because there were two separate occasions that the Leadership class had to post. I always posted when there was a spirit day for FallFest. I dressed up every single day and submitted when I remembered to. Dillan and I’s job did not have much work to accomplish these couple months but the work that we did have was as equally as important as anything else. Professional development: Although I am scared for my speech, I know that it will boost my public speaking skills which is part of what leadership is supposed to help with. So I am excited for that, but obviously that is in the future. I feel like now I am in a comfortable position with all of my peers in Leadership which is good. Feeling more like part of a family now that we are back in school. 6.Concerns/Change: One concern I have is obviously the risk of getting Covid-19 going back to school. I am hoping that everyone follows protocols so that no is put at risk. Being at school has already been the best experience I could have had. I just hope no one jeopardizes me or the rest of my peers at school. Positive Comment: This positive comment is for you Morty!! I know that distance learning had to have been so hard on you because your job is unlike any other teachers. You structure all of the main events at Ripon High. Just wanted to say that I am proud of you for your seemingly calm and collected transition from regular schooling to distance learning back to regular school. You inspire me!!! My Impact: I really hope that my social media posts for FallFest inspired some people to dress up for the spirit days. I also hope that they submitted them to ASB so that they could get posted. I also hope that Mr. Perez enjoyed the cards that I gave him because he deserves getting that much recognition for the teacher and friend he is.
